Towering more than a mile above the valley of Jackson Hole, the Grand Teton rises to 13,770 feet. Twelve Teton peaks reach above 12,000 feet and support a dozen mountain glaciers. The west side of the range slopes gently, showing the angle of tilt of the Earth's crust. The Teton Range is the youngest range in the Rockies and displays some of North America's oldest rocks. Spent a grand total of one day in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. However, we did do the premier day hike in the park. Namely, Cascade Canyon Trail which starts on the west side of Jenny Lake and follows Cascade Creek up the valley for five miles or so. The hiked started with a lovely boat ride across the lake at the beginning of the day and at the end.
