Thoeretically, you could go backcountry skiing 12 months out of the year in the northwest. There are permanent snow fields on our volcanos. However, since there is so much else to do, the rest of us ski only six months of the year. Crosscountry skiing on a really snowy day is a lot of fun. But so is a sunny day.
